Race1. Hillsboro,Gold Venture,Carrus Upset : Nearness Of You
A 3 year old maiden race where a lot of unpredictability lies. I Specialist by the late Midtown, is tracking well. Hillsboro is tracking very well. Only concern is the jockey. Gold Venture last run was easy, has come up a lot, jockey is concern as usual, should run well though. Nearness Of You is very well bred. The horse doesn't looks very well prepared though and drawn badly as well. Carrus is by Imtiyaz, is prepared well, will run a fair race.
Race2. Prashastha, Sun gold, Upset : Super Spectacle
Race is between Sun gold, Super Spectacle, and Prashastha. Attaturk can only fight for place.
Race3. Polaris,Admiral,Casanova Upset : Mountain Range
Another 3 year maiden race. Mountain Range is well bred, tracking well. Admiral is tracking extremely good, with Srinath to guide will be lively force.Casanova very well bred, and tracking extremely well, will give fight to all.Polaris last run was very easy , has come up a lot after last run, will run well today.
Race4. Don Diego, Elusive Speed,Natural Force Upset : Sun Doro
Sun Doro is tracking well, 1st run though. Elusive Speed last run was good, tracking well, will run well today.Natural Force has improved after last run can place. Don Diego is a very speedy horse, twice unlucky, handicap is stiff, but with this jockey to guide can win.
Race5. Magisterial,Crown Empress, Unleashed Upset : Rip Van Winkle.
Race6. Youre So Beautiful,Airplay, Braavo Upset : Cielo Rey
The chief ministers trophy. The competition looks good. Main contenders are Cielo Rey,Youre So Beautiful,Braavo, and Airplay. Cielo Rey, is giving a lot of wt to others, at equal wt, would have won. Youre So Beautiful, looks well prepared, is the one to watch. Braavo, whether it will stay the distance is debatable, otherwise has fair chance. Airplay, at this handicap will try to win the race easily but has to beat the above horses.
Race7. Valahak, Montedoro, Citrali Upset :Spark Of Solitaire
Race8. Sunset Grill, Sky Rider Upset : Wild Nexus.

The race card looks packed with 8 races for the day.The races will throw up a few surprises.
Race1. Winchester, Ocean Queen, Adams Prince Upset : Lady Genereus
A bad race, with horses running after a long interval. The main contenders looks like Winchester,Ocean Queen,Ocean Treasure,Adams Prince and Lady Genereus.Adams Prince is a better horse than rest,but i feel the distance is too sharp for it.Lady Genereus, tracking well, gamble may be on the cards.Winchester looks fit, speedy, drawn nicely , can make everyone run. Among the Ocean's , Ocean Queen is the one to watch, if the jockey handles can upset as well.
Race2.Endless Horizon,Albuurz,Daffodils
Endless Horizon should win by distance. Albuurz will place surely, will fight with daffodils with the remaining place berths.Ner Tamid can at best place.
Race3.Rapide, Ardent Lover,Distant Promise
A mile race. Rapide looks well prepared, is the one to beat.Ardent Lover ran well last time, with C.Rajendra to guide will try to fight all.Distant Promise can place.
Race4.Snow Blaze

Race should be between National Glory, Brunello, and Viva La Diva only. Viva La Diva looks to be much better than the rest of the horses.

Race is between Estevez and Always Smile. Estevez is a very fast horse, last run was not up to the mark,today will be a lively contender is surely E/W bet. Always Smile is a much better horse than his last run , with positive jockey switch, should fight it out. Swept Away, Silver Sands and Prince Lochinva can only fight for minor place.

A seven card race for the day. The card looks interesting and very competitive.
Race 1. Cogito Ergo Sum, Hottie, Wild Imagination Upset : Nou Camp
A class V race for 4 years only. The race is between Hottie,Cogito Ergo Sum, Nou Camp and Wild Imagination. Katrina can fight for only minor placings. Wild imagination ran well to win easy last time out, will improve further.Cogito Ergo Sum is a much better horse than the field here. Can easily make mincemeat of the opposition. Hottie is a fast horse, only concern is the handicap, will do well. Nou camp is also a fast horse with very good handicap today, will definitely place is the jockey is able to handle.
Race 2.Arabian Champ,Stylish Strokes,Barbara Upset: Shabdeez
A bad race, where the flow of money might decide the outcome of the race. Stylish Strokes is tracking well, the handicap is good, is worth an E/W chance.Scintillating Star is better than Barbara of the lagad horses in this distance but is a blood vessel case, so better leave to leave it out. Arabian Champ ran well last time, with Prakash to guide now, should improve further.
Race 3. Distinguished, Mystic Temple, Musical Rhythm Upset: Fluent Victory
Another class V race. Musical Rhythm ran well last time over 6f, the step up in distance will suit it fine.Mystic Temple last run is suspicious, the horse looks to be in form, should do well.Distinguished is the best horse in the field, if the intent is there, should give good account of itself.Fluent Victory can fight for minor placings.
Race 4. Capriole, Star of Gibralter, Haunting Fantasy. Upset :Shahenshah
This is a 3 year old maiden race. Quite a few horses will run for the first time, makes the race an interesting one.Oriental Dawn is sire of Diktat, which was a champion sprinter (6f-7f primarily),is tracking well , can place.Shahenshah is bred well, tracking well, with Prakash to guide can upset.Star Of Gibraltar ran well 1st time , will improve on that run, tracking very well also, will be a lively contender.Capriole also ran well 1st time, tracking extremely good, will be the main contender.Haunting Fantasy 1st run was good, will improve upon that.Lake Geneva last run was not upto the mark, with Richard to guide it, will have its chance.

A mile race. The main contenders are Dear Henry, Ariane, Deep Purple,Constantina and Stardom Bound.Ariane won well last time in lower class, but the set here is much tough, can only hope to place. Deep purple, is a miler typically, can place and will fight.Constantina have failed too many times, today running with blinkers, might improve , but better to watch. Stardom Bound won well last time, will improve further, today is at very good handicap can run away from the field. Dear henry, the best bred horse in the field, ran extremely well last time, is maturing very fast, is carrying loads of wt. today. The horse is tracking extremely well, can beat the field if ridden in check.

Main race of the day a class II race. Amore Mio, Ciel Indienne,Sea Value, Star trainer and Got To Go are the main contender.Ciel Indienne and Amore Mio should fight it out mainly.Sea Value is a fast horse, but staying the trip has been a problem for it. If pace of race is fast, this horse will upset. Star trainer and Got to go can fight for place only.

Mysore Races, January 5th,2011.
The races looks competitive. Here are my views for the day:-
Race 1.Azazel, Zooming, Non stop Cannon Upset: Different Opinion.
The main contenders for the race are Non Stop Cannon,Azazel, Zooming and Different Opinion. Non Stop Cannon have not done anything to merit a bet, only positive is the relative jockey merit.Different Opinion is the best horse in the field, the sprint will suit it, if jockey handles it properly will win.Worth an E/W.Azazel is a horse in form, and distance will suit it perfectly.Zooming is a speedy animal, only concern is the age, at nice handicap, will run well.
Race 2.Nano Blue,Fast Colors,Looking to luck Upset :Major Impression
Looking To Luck, Bocconcino, Nano Blue,Fast Colours and Major Impression, are the main contenders.
I like Major Impression because of its handicap, and relative jockey merit. Worth an E/W punt.
Race 3.Sun Device,Unique Star,Aaj Tak Upset: Gracian
Race 4. Native Strategy, Mucho,Collateral Upset: Ahira
Race 5. Arabian Speed,Eona(E/W),Precept Upset: Social Climber.

Thoroughbreds......
Thoroughbreds are the horses that are used in racing all over the world. So, what is actually a thoroughbred?Well, to quote from wikipedia we have The Thoroughbred is a horse breed best known for its use in horse racing. Although the word thoroughbred is sometimes used to refer to any breed of purebred horse, it technically refers only to the Thoroughbred breed. Thoroughbreds are considered a "hot-blooded" horse, known for their agility, speed and spirit .
The actual history of thoroughbred can to be traced to these three stallions, who are actual founder of modern day thoroughbreds horse racing. The thoroughbreds are:-

The speed, agility ,and the spirit of a horse are the main deciding factors in any race run in the world. So, how do we control that. That is one department, which either the horse will have it or wont have it at all. It comes from pure breeding. The breeding is in our control, and we can very well monitor it the way we want. I will cover it on some other day about the secrets of breeding, and all the theories attached with that followed, in the world.
The training of a horse is also very important for a horse. Right from its breaking, to till its 1st race, all the conditioning, behavioral training, endurance building, etc matter a lot in a horse's success in the world of racing. The natural speed and agility the horse has already, can be enhanced via training. Spirit or the heart of the horse is something that can be worked upon as well (nowadays has come into prominence, with increased emphasis on that as the margin between winning and losing is reducing by the day).
Every year as the racing season concludes we come up with the list of the best performed horse for that year. We see the list and feel good about it. A lot of times we forget the effort put in by professional at different level to make that horse a success as we see it. We see only the stats i.e. the ranking and the points attached with the thoroughbred.
In India, the things might not be so very transparent, with the making of a good horse, but slowly but surely we are catching up with the world in that regard.
The top 10 horses of all time based on their performance as well as stakes earned are often argued as follows:-

4. Man O' War
5. Sea Bird II
6. Barbaro

Mumbai Winter 2010-11 January 2nd,2011
The 1st race day for Mumbai, for year 2011, a card of 9 races out of which 2 are of 4 horses. The card looks interesting. Here are my opinions for the day:-
1.Race Born Destiny, Bemisaal,Top Action.
Class V race, anything normally can happen in these races.The race is between Born Destiny, Bemisaal , and Top Action. Born Destiny though long in tooth, is a class above the field, and looks fit.Top Action looks well prepared as well. Bemisaal from Lagad's stable looks good, but has failed a lot, can surprise though.
2.Race Frost Fairy
3.Race Belligerent,Grand Warrior,Forward Charge Upset:Catalyst
Belligerent looks well prepared, lost by a whisker last time, will be a lively contender.Grand Warrior is an inform horse will fight it out.Forward charge with I.Chisty guiding its fortune, will be right there. Catalyst is a gamble horse, if money comes in will leave the field standing note.
4.Race Ocean Yarrman
5.Race Sterling Silver, Aditi, Sweet Symphony Upset :Blush
Bad race with maximum horses being pretenders. An upset is very much expected in this race.
6.Race Harmonica, El Tropico Upset: Flaming Arrow.
A class I sprint race. El Tropico is a classy horse , even with the wt. will give a tough fight to whole set. Harmonica has got big heart and also has handicap advantage.
7.Race Portrush, Eloise, Beyond Belief Upset:Palazzo Grazioli
Portrush and Beyong Belief should give a fight to all the younger brigade. Eloise is a nice type and only one looking like competing with them.
8.Race Lake Superior ,Miss Starlight, Zeki Upset(note): Lake Beauty
Juvenile Million has an interesting look to it.Miss Starlight ran well last time out, will improve further will be the one to beat.Lake Superior is tracking extremely good, and has R.Hughes to guide it, should run well.Pronto Pronto is also tracking well, bred for sprints has to be watched in this 5f race. Lake Beauty is much improved after last run, will run extremely well today, surely an E/W chance. Zeki is another horse, bred well, and had a good GP, the odds suggest the horse is carrying lots of hope or maybe hype.Better watch the horse in this run. Aphrodite is another very well bred horse, though today it looks under prepared.
