Derby Day--- HYDERABAD Sunday, January 30 , 2011

Well, giving it a shot at Hyderabad races today. The Hyderabad Derby, holds a great significance, as we have seen horses winning here has also stunned everyone in Indian Derby. Here are mu opinions for the day :-

Race 1. Cicilia, Amontillado,  Carson Troy Upset: Aarohan
A category III sprint race to start the day.  The race seems to be between Cicilia, Amontillado, Carson Troy, and Aarohan .  Cicilia had the best run in this set against far better competitors, with PS Chouhan to ride, will be tough to toss. Amontillado though long in tooth will drive the former close. Aarohan can look to place. Carson Troy at this handicap can place as well. Paris Time can be considered for an upset if any.

Race 2.   Traxana ,  Illustrator,  Lambourn  Upset : Sanjaa
A category III mile race with 16 horses.  Traxana , Lambourn , Illustrator,Sanjaa, Kansas City Mac and Style Ikon.

Race 3. Splendid Show, Silver Liner, Princess Jaanu Upset : Aficionado
A category III sprint cup race. The main contenders are Silver Liner, Sun Bird , Rose Queen, Splendid Show, Princess Jaanu and Aficionado.

Race 4. Aegis, Premiership(E/W), Cherry Hill Upset : Ann Arbor
The 3 year old Million having 13 horses. Cherry Hill is bred well, have not performed till date, the BLK might help, also Suraj guiding it gives a good chance. Vijays Jet is another horse which is bred well, had an educative run last time, will improve on that, will run well here.Aegis is bred well, making its debut, was good in the Mock race, can run away from all here.Ann Arbor had 2 runs, looks a speedy type, is drawn nicely today, if goes for a start to finish, will place for sure, can upset. Precisely That had a nice mock race, drawn badly here can only hope to place. Premiership had a nice run 1st up, is bred well, might need more distance, tracking well, will be one of the main contenders.Vijaysjyothi though have failed till now, with this Jockey at this handicap has a good chance to place.

Race 5. Aloisia, Golden Queen, Vendetta, Upset : Carte Blanche(E/W)
The Secretariat Cup. A tough race and many horses have chance here to win. The draw and riding skill might finally give the win. The main contenders are Aloisia, Golden Queen and Vendetta. Carte Blanche is a horse prepared with this race in mind, looks set for a coup, don't ignore.

Race 6. Mountain Range, Naval Honour(E/W), Super Duper  Upset : Transformation
THE H D I L JUVENILE MILLION for the 3 year old having 14 horses competing here for the 7f race. The race seems to have an open look about it.Super Duper won a race of 5.5 f in its fast run showing good speed, it is bred by Keltos whose pro genies will enjoy the 7f more, is tracking well will be the one to beat here. Naval Honour is by Philanthropist which will produce horses performing best at 8f-10f races, is tracking well, can fight for honours.Proof won well 1st time up, is tracking well as well, drawn badly though. Mountain Range is coming from Bangalore, is tracking very good, is at a nice handicap drawn nicely, will make everyone run. Star Striker  at this handicap can place. Transformation at this handicap will be a danger to all, don't ignore.

Race 7.Vijaysarathi, Menlo Park, Dhrutiman Upset : Disco Flash.
A category II sprint race is an 18 horse field. An upset is likely.

Race 8. Vijay Monarch, Balmoral Castle, Camacho.Upset : Crown Empress(E/W).

The 13 horses participating are as follows:-
Business Tycoon : Performed badly in the Guineas, shows its lack of capabilities both with distance and the class. Getting placed here will be tough for it.
Camacho: Does not relish hot pace. It has got good turn of feet, has to be ridden very well to place.
Good Shot:  Pacemaker.
Ice Mountain : Seems  to like going distance of 8f and above, will stay, but in this class can only place.
Magic Million : Pacemaker.
Ordained One : It is a talented animal, is classy enough to win today. Has got a proper Jockey after longtime, likes to hit front, drawn badly though. will place, could win if luck of race favours it.
The Leader : It will stay the distance comfortablely  and be very competitive as well.
Vijay Monarch : It has got good turn of feet, if ridden in check can win.
Balmoral Castle : Not classy enough, can only surprise if others tire out.
Crown Empress : Not sure whether it will stay the distance, if it stays can upset note.
Emerald : Not here.
Vijay Damini : Can win, but not sure if it will stay in a good pace race.


Race 9. Da Xia, Vijay Trishul, Royal Shaan Upset : Fleet Commander.
A category II race having 16 horses. An upset is likely.
